En el presente trabajo de investigación se estudió los estilos de liderazgo que el director puede llevar a cabo dentro de una institución educativa, todo con la intención de mejorar la calidad de la educación. Por otra parte, el proyecto de investigación tuvo lugar en la Institución Educativa Técnica San Luis Gonzaga del corregimiento de Chicoral, bajo un tipo de investigación descriptivo mixto o multiparadigmatica, debido a que involucró el paradigma positivista y el paradigma constructivista o interpretativo, con instrumentos como la encuesta, la entrevista y el diario de campo, ya que busco identificar el estilo de liderazgo más eficaz, y que a su vez sea pertinente con la actual demanda de la sociedad y la educación. Allí encontramos resultados importantes como la aceptación por parte de los estudiantes y profesores acerca del estilo de liderazgo transformacional ejecutado por el rector para mejorar la calidad educativa. También se visualizó como la normatividad y la ley influye en el trabajo y estilo de liderazgo por parte del rector, haciendo su labor más eficiente y con resultados positivos para la institución educativa.

This reseach work is studied the styles of leadership that the director can accomplish in an educative institution, all with the intention of improving the quality of education. By the other side, the project of investigation took place in the Educational Technical Institution the San Luis Gonzaga high school, in the village of Chicoral is Espinal municipality under a kind of research descriptive and mix because it involucre positivist paradigm and constructivist paradigm or interpretative one, with the instruments as poll, interviews and dairy of work, Since I seek to identify the style of efficient leadership and for this reason that it be more pertinent with real demand of the society and the education. There we find important results as the acceptance on the part of the students and teachers it brings over of the leadership style transformational executed by the rector to improve the educational quality. Also it was visualized as the legislation and the law influences the work and leadership style on the part of the rector, doing his more efficient labor and with positive results for the educational institution.
