En la presente investigación se abordará el desarrollo de la historia de la prensa en Ibagué de 1852 a 1899. En medio de este proceso se identifica y analiza como fue el funcionamiento de la empresa editorial de esta ciudad. De este modo, se tiene en cuenta tres aspectos fundamentales: la legislación de imprenta, las dinámicas de los talleres tipográficos y las temáticas más relevantes abordadas desde la prensa. Estos aspectos permiten conocer la forma de funcionamiento de la prensa en Ibagué, los niveles y cambios en su producción, las dinámicas de impresión y los contenidos de los periódicos. El fin es nutrir la historia local y aportar a la historia de la prensa.

In the present investigation the development of the history of the press in Ibagué from 1852 to 1899 will be approached. In the middle of this process it is identified and analyzed how was the operation of the publishing company of this city. In this way, three fundamental aspects are taken into account: the legislation of the press, the dynamics of the typographic workshops and the most relevant issues addressed by the press. These aspects make it possible to know how the press works in Ibagué, the levels and changes in its production, the printing dynamics and the contents of newspapers.
