En el desarrollo de esta investigación se buscó “Proponer estrategias para el desarrollo sostenible de la minería a cielo abierto en los campos social y ambiental en el Departamento del Tolima.”, basado en una descripción de la estructura del sector minero en él territorio tolimense, analizando los beneficios y riesgos sociales y ambientales del desarrollo de esta actividad industrial, identificando las maneras como la minería aporta al desarrollo sostenible, en sus procesos de crecimiento y fortalecimiento económico de las regiones, y estableciendo si existen intereses para entorpecer los procesos mineros que buscan garantizar la protección del medio ambiente y el respeto por las comunidades específicamente en los municipios de San Luis, Cajamarca e Ibagué. Esta investigación de tipo mixta comprendió la aplicación de 68 cuestionario con aspectos estadísticos de confiabilidad y validez con un alfa Cronbach de 0.775 y la revisión de información bibliográfica, lo que se suma a un análisis que permite tener distintas visiones y panoramas referentes a lo que es la minería en el departamento del Tolima.

In the development of this research, we seek to "Propose strategies for the sustainable development of open pit mining in the social and environmental fields in the Department of Tolima.” Based on a description of the structure of the mining sector in territory, Analyzing the social and environmental benefits and risks of the development of this industrial activity, identifying the ways in which mining contributes to sustainable development, in its growth processes and economic strengthening of the regions and establishing whether there are interests to hinder the mining processes that seek to guarantee the protection of the environment and respect for communities specifically in the municipalities of San Luis, Cajamarca an Ibagué. This mixed type investigation included the application of 68 questionnaires with statistical aspects of reliability and validity with a Cronbach alpha of 0.775 and the review of bibliographic information what adds to an analysis that allows to have different visions and panoramas referring to what is mining in the department of Tolima.
