El presente estudio se centró en analizar las variaciones lexicales de estudiantes en los grados de educación básica secundaria de las Instituciones Educativas Alberto Santofimio Caicedo y Técnica Ciudad de Ibagué, ubicadas en la ciudad de Ibagué-Tolima. Lo anterior, a partir de la importancia de comprender la comunicación de los estudiantes en su paso de la niñez a la adolescencia, donde las interacciones sociales son más frecuentes; puesto que son más susceptibles a adquirir modas, símbolos y expresiones de su entorno, desarrollando de esta manera conexiones con la cultura y el dialecto tolimense. Mediante un enfoque cualitativo y metodología etnográfica, se investigaron situaciones comunicativas en el aula y fuera de ella, conversaciones durante los recesos y actividades de integración e interacción, para identificar las variantes lexicales y su significado en el contexto educativo. Los resultados obtenidos contribuyen a la construcción de un lexicón que refleja las particularidades lingüísticas de los estudiantes y su impacto en la cultura tolimense. Por esta razón, la presente investigación identifica las variantes lingüísticas lexicales con su respectiva significación en el contexto planteado. De igual forma, se tuvieron en cuenta distintos teóricos como; José Joaquín Montes (1997), Humberto López Morales (2004) y la pedagoga Mireya Cisneros (2006), que fortalecen el entendimiento del análisis de los resultados.

The present study is focused on analyzing the lexical variations of students in the basic secondary education grades of the Alberto Santofimio Caicedo and Técnica Ciudad de Ibagué Educational Institutions, located in the city of Ibagué-Tolima. The above, based on the importance of understanding the communication of students in their passage from childhood to adolescence, where social interactions are more frequent; since they are more susceptible to acquire fashions, symbols and expressions of their environment, thus developing connections with the culture and dialect of Tolima. Through a qualitative approach and ethnographic methodology, communicative situations in and out of the classroom, conversations during breaks and integration and interaction activities are investigated to identify lexical variants and their meaning in the educational context. The results obtained contribute to the construction of a lexicon that reflects the linguistic particularities of the students and their impact on Tolima's culture. For this reason, the present research identifies the lexical linguistic variants with their respective significance in the proposed context. Likewise, different theorists such as; José Joaquín Montes (1997), Humberto López Morales (2004) and the pedagogue Mireya Cisneros (2006) are taken into account, which strengthen the understanding of the analysis of the results.
