Este trabajo constituye un avance en la práctica pedagógica de la enseñanza de la estadística, para resolver situaciones del contexto cotidiano del entorno médico de los estudiantes de primer semestre del programa de medicina de la Universidad del Tolima a partir de la implementación del Aprendizaje Basado en Problemas (ABP), en el que los estudiantes sean partícipes activos del proceso de aprendizaje de técnicas estadísticas para la recolección, organización y análisis de información. El trabajo propicio una nueva alternativa en el contexto curricular médico, ya que desde la innovación educativa y a partir del fomento de prácticas de aula de los estudiantes a través de la estrategia ABP y el uso de mediaciones tecnológicas desde la utilización de los Learning Managements Systems (LMS), se propicia nuevo conocimiento y su utilidad en el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje de la bioestadística. La metodología utilizada en el trabajo fue mixta. Los instrumentos que se utilizaron para la recolección de la información fueron documentos escritos, observaciones, cuestionarios y evaluaciones lo cual hizo posible la triangulación de diferentes métodos, para una mejor comprensión de la realidad en el contexto de aprendizaje de los estudiantes de primeros semestres del programa de Medicina. La incursión de herramientas tecnológicas en los procesos de aprendizaje mediados a partir del ABP le permiten al estudiante el desarrollo y alcance de una formación basada en competencias, los estudiantes presentan una alta satisfacción en el proceso de aprendizaje desde la autonomía y el fortalecimiento de las relaciones de los conocimientos con alternativas de solución a situaciones del contexto que le serán de utilidad a lo largo de la vida.

This work constitutes an advance in the pedagogical practice of the teaching of statistics, to solve situations of the daily context of the medical environment of the first semester students of the medicine program of the University of Tolima from the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (ABP), in which students are active participants in the process of learning statistical techniques for the collection, organization and analysis of information. The work led to a new alternative in the medical curricular context, since from the educational innovation and from the promotion of classroom practices of the students through the ABP strategy and the use of technological mediations from the use of the Learning Managements Systems (LMS) new knowledge and its usefulness in the teaching and learning process of biostatistics are encouraged. The methodology used in the work was mixed. The instruments that were used for the collection of the information were written documents, observations, questionnaires and evaluations which made possible the triangulation of different methods, for a better understanding of the reality in the learning context of the students of the first semesters of the program of Medicine. The incursion of technological tools in the learning processes mediated from (PBL) (Problem Based Learning) allows the student to develop and achieve a competence-based training, students have high satisfaction in the learning process from the autonomy and strengthening of relationships of knowledge with alternative solutions to situations in the context that will be useful throughout life.
