dc.description.abstractAnte la actual preocupación por recuperar las antiguas estaciones del ferrocarril como también las vías férreas que existieron en Colombia, se busca rescatar ejes viales eficientes e importantes que contribuyan al desarrollo estructurado de las ciudades; esta estrategia permite recuperar la identidad, la memoria colectiva y los bienes de interés cultural de la región que hacen parte del patrimonio nacional. El proyecto pretende generar un corredor férreo turístico para la región del centro y norte del Tolima articulando municipios con potencial patrimonial donde antiguamente se encontraban las líneas férreas, dentro de las localidades más próximas a Ibagué se encuentra el tramo que antiguamente conectaba la ciudad con Espinal, el cual comprende las estaciones de Picaleña, Gualanday, Chicoral y Espinal, enfocando la intervención en el punto de remate del trayecto planteado (Espinal). En este punto se plantea una renovación urbana en los predios que hacían parte del funcionamiento de la antigua estación que abarcan la calle 9 hasta la 11 con carrera 4ª. El proyecto genera: la intervención del inmueble, que actualmente se encuentra en un estado crítico en el que se ha perdido totalmente la cubierta conservando sólo los muros exteriores, la recuperación integral del sector asignando nuevos usos que permitan la reactivación física, cultural y económica de la zona, crear un sistema de espacio público que facilite la movilidad en el sector y responda adecuadamente a los flujos peatonales y vehiculares generados por el funcionamiento de la estación, crear estrategias que permitan la rentabilidad del proyecto a través de sus usos y servicios, la conservación de los inmuebles que hacen parte de la época, rescatando valores arquitectónicos y de interés patrimonial, mejorar las condiciones de seguridad, convivencia y productividad del sector por medio de intervenciones urbanas integrales que beneficien a sus habitantes, fortaleciendo su identidad y sentido de pertenencia con el sector.
