| dc.description.abstract | La presente investigación, surge a partir de la preocupación por la ausencia de la estadística en el aula de matemáticas, situación que ha hecho que los estudiantes tengan un conocimiento mínimo sobre el área de estadística que tanta importancia debería tener en la actualidad tanto académicamente como para la formación de ciudadanos críticos. Por lo anterior, se buscaba evaluar a los estudiantes de una Institución Educativa con la finalidad de evaluar el significado adquirido por los estudiantes. Se aplicó un instrumento de evaluación con 9 preguntas, a 148 estudiantes de grado 11°, para evaluar la comprensión conceptual y procedimental de la resolución de problemas que involucraran la media aritmética y su idea de promedio. Del total de estudiantes encuestados, se obtuvo una muestra intencional con un criterio de selección que diera a conocer algunas características sobre el significado personal adquirido por los estudiantes al finalizar su ciclo escolar y la comparación de estos resultados con los documentos oficiales que rigen las escuelas a nivel nacional. Las respuestas analizadas informan que los estudiantes tienen dificultades para conceptuar sobre la media aritmética e interpretar un promedio. | dc.description.abstract | The current research emerges from the concern of the lack of statistics in the math’s classroom. This situation have done that the students have a minimum knowledge about statistics that should have a bigger importance nowadays both academically and a way to form critically minded citizens. For what a mentioned before, the objective was to evaluate the students of a school with the purpose of measuring the meaning acquired by the students. It was applied an evaluation tool with 9 questions, to 148 students of 11° grade, to evaluate the conceptual and procedural comprehension of problem resolution that involves the “arithmetic mean” and their “idea of average”. From the total of the students surveyed, it was gotten an intentional sample with a criterion of selection that show some characteristics about the personal meaning acquired by the students at the end of their school cycle and the comparison of this results with the official documents that rule the schools national level. The answers analyzed showed that students have difficulties to conceptualize about the “arithmetic mean” and their “idea of average”.
